Where it comes from

Alheira was created by Portuguese Jews to appear as pork sausages during the Inquisition, allowing them to maintain their dietary laws.

    Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a splash of olive oil. Once shimmering, add the alheira sausages. Cook, turning occasionally, until the sausages are golden brown on all sides and heated through.
