Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Lay a sheet of filo pastry on a clean, dry surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Repeat with additional sheets, stacking them.
- 25 min
Spread your chosen filling, such as sweet cheese or poppy seed, evenly over the pastry, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges. The filling should be fragrant and moist.
- 35 min
Carefully roll the pastry into a tight log, tucking in the sides as you go to seal the filling. The roll should feel firm and compact.
- 45 min
Place the strudel seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with more melted butter for a golden finish.
- 530 min
Bake in the preheated oven until the strudel is golden brown and crisp, about 30 minutes. The pastry should be flaky and the filling bubbling slightly.
